“However difficult life may seem, there is always something you can do and succeed at.”-Steven Hawkin
While there are many versions of success, we can probably all agree that we feel successful when we achieve our goals. Feeling successful is great motivation to keep going, but what do we do to motivate ourselves when we get discouraged or encounter obstacles that slow our progression and make us feel less than successful? We focus on the things we can control.
Regardless of what your specific goal may be, you have to do some work if you want to achieve it, and whether you are working toward a huge goal or a small one, any step toward your goal is progress! If something is stopping you from moving on to the next step in the process, don’t give up. There is always something you can do to keep moving forward. For example, if you are working toward a career change but can’t afford to take a class you need, set aside some time to do some research related to financial programs that may be available to help cover your costs. If that doesn’t yield results, you can take advantage of free online resources related to whatever skill you are wanting to develop in order to strengthen your knowledge so you will be prepared when the time comes to take that class.
No matter what part of the process you are currently in, never stop moving forward. If you need to take a moment to pause and breathe and re-evaluate things, that is okay! Taking time to evaluate your situation is time spent working toward your goal. When you find yourself struggling to see progress, remember that every single step you make counts no matter how small it could be. The most important thing is keep going and keep BELIEVING!
